important Special appeal for Ruby - *home needed*

Post  Lilliput on Tue Sep 23, 2008 8:19 pm

Ruby was surrendered to Dunboyne last month. Here is her thread:

http://petsireland.invisionzone.com/index....091&hl=Ruby

She had an altercation with another female dog before she was due to go to Sweden and now needs to find a home or a rescue space in Ireland. She is neutered, vax'd defleaed, wormed and microchipped. She is well trained and very clever and knows the sit, stay and down commands. She learns very quickly. She met with Tara from Dog Training Ireland today and proved she had an excellent temperment. She is great with people and seems to like children too. While she is fine with many dogs there are some females that she doesn't seem to like but given her excellent temperment and her intelligence Tara is confident that with some training this can be overcome quite easily. She doesn't like cats much tho! She is a real sweetheart and loved her day out in the sunshine today.

Unfortunately due to the change in plans for her desination Ruby is now in emergency kennels at Dunboyne Pound. This is far from ideal for her and she is not very happy there. I felt so bad for her sticking her back into kennels today. She was devastated. Ruby either needs a rescue who is prepared to take her on or a foster home who can take her to weekly training classes at Dog Training Ireland. Can anyone please help her??

Bump!
Friends of Ben will fund everything for Ruby (up to 50 euro per week to cover food, and petrol expenses for getting her to her training sessions) if anyone can come forward and offer her a foster home.

Karen.

She is coming along really well. Ann goes down to her and spends the day down there every couple of weeks. Ruby is a very intelligent dog and has taken to training like a duck to water.

Her reaction towards other dogs is definitely improving and is something that she can be trained out of, so much so that now Ann is happy for her to go into a foster home with another male dog, as long as he's not an "In your face" kind of dog.

If we could find a foster home for her, without another dog, where the fosterer is happy to follow her training programme, the reward would be fantastic. The trainer will happily work with the fosterer and Ruby together, Friends Of Ben will cover all food, bedding etc, and Dunboyne Dogs will cover the vet fees. All this girl needs is someone who will spend the time she needs with her.

Once you meet her, you're hooked. She's such a special dog, and so friendly and affectionate.

Please can someone foster her?

Ruby is an absolutley super super super fab girl. I haven't up to see her in a while (since before Christmas) but she was doing absolutley brill and can go on a walk with other dogs (once they are not in her face) and totally ignores other dogs that are out at the same time.
She is really trainable and is full of fun - she needs and deserves a special forever home. An active home without cats would be perfect for this beaut I love you
Please, please if there is anyone who can help her I would be forever grateful and I think that she would be too love Ongoing training support will be provided for Ruby.

important Foster neededin Dublin area

Post  Tarmina on Mon Mar 30, 2009 9:29 pm

We desperately need a foster for Ruby in the Dublin area, preferably near Blanchardstown as Ruby is such a clever girl that she has been offered training by Dog Training Ireland. We really don't want her to miss this fantastic opportunity after all she has been through. She needs a foster where she will be an only dog so that she can concentrate on her training without too many distractions and without cats as she is not too keen on them. If anyone can help please contact Martina on 086 2228902.

important Ruby Update

Post  Kazza on Sun May 17, 2009 10:48 pm

Ruby Update :)

Ruby went into a new foster home today after waiting patiently for several months with the lovely ladies in Leitrim. She's a completely different dog to the thin, sickly girl that came into Dunboyne last August.

She's put on loads of weight and looks so much healthier. She's full of fun and was so inquisitive in her new surroundings today. All Ruby wants to do is please you. She's so quick to learn and loves her training sessions. Myself and Ann spent a good few hours with her getting her settled into her new foster home today and it was so great to see her looking so great and happy.

She hasn't had any accidents in the house so it's looking good for the house training. She knows how to sit and lie down on command. She's doing great with her lead training and is crate trained. She was great in the house today, especially considering it's been a long time since she was inside a house. No jumping up on furniture, and happy to lie on the ground with a bone while we chatted. She's also getting used to wearing a muzzle very quickly so it's all good news so far for Miss Ruby.

Here are a few photos I took of her today settling into her new foster home.

Ruby just loves to be scratched on her back!

But she'll also settle for belly rubs smile

So much better on the lead than she used to be.

Woohoo - more cuddles!

Hmm - what's this strange thing?

I wonder if I could climb up this?

Ruby is still patiently waiting for her forever home. She would do best in home where she could be the only dog as she's very much a people dog, and isn't overly fond of dogs "in her face" but she's fine with dogs when out and about as long as they're not jumping all over her (a bit like myself smile)

If you think you can offer her a forever home please phone Martina in A Dogs Life on 086 387 1498

Great pics Karen. She really was so happy to be out of kennels today and in a new and stimulating environment. We really need help getting the perfect home for this gorgeous girl so if everyone can put their thinking caps on maybe we can try to come with something??? crossedfingers
She is just such a brilliant dog - I have said it over and over that if she was a Cocker Spaniel we would have a queue of homes fighting over her!
A home without other pets would suit her down to the ground and we will have more of an idea of what needs work now that she has had the chance to be in a normal house with a domestic routine too. Any and all help would be greatly appreciated for this fab lady, anyone???? I love you
