Dilly - pup from Dunboyne
Guess who I took home with me today??
This little girl is gorgeous but very skinny! I gave her a bath, a small meal and she is now sleeping beside me. The poor thing looks really lost...but with lots of TLC she'll be a happy puppy again

Re: Dilly - pup from Dunboyne
I couldn't resist, I had to buy her a new girlie bed
She is very skinny, I weighted her this morning and she's only 3.7 kg! She is very restless and keeps following me everywhere, it's like if she is afraid of falling asleep because she does not want to be on her own She is ok when I leave her on her own, just cries for the first couple of minutes. She slept in the conservatory with Belle last night and I did not hear anything all night
My OH is totally in love with her - she is the first foster dog that he ever took on our bed and I keep catching him cuddling her when he does not know I am watching
I'll take her to the vets tomorrow for a general check and to see if she can start with her vaccinatations

Re: Dilly - pup from Dunboyne
She looks like a greyhound/lurcher x but it's difficult to know. My husband keeps saying that she is a GSD but I don't see any GSD in her
I took her to the vets yesterday and she is very underweight and she should be bigger than she is - the poor thing I'd say she would definitely grow up to medium/big size, her paws are quite big
Dilly is booked to a rescue but I can surely let them know if we have someone interested in adopting her

Hi Elana,
Spoke to my friend, she was crazy about her but feels her back garden is to small and it would not be fair on the dog. She is looking at rusty my foster hopfully tomorrow as she would like to take an older dog, as the puppies go so fast being of course so cute.
I'll keep you posted. Keep up the good work.
Viv :o

Re: Dilly - pup from Dunboyne
Thanks viv
I am a bit worried about Dilly - she was very hungry Saturday and Sunday and would eat anything. Then yesterday she had the runs and did not eat much. She also started drinking and weeing a lot Today she only ate some tin food and still had the runs. So this evening I cooked some chicken with rice for her, and she refused it!!! Then I discovered that she would eat the chicken on its own but not with the rice .
She is still drinking a lot but other than this she seems fine - she's playful and bright. She is so skinny that I am afraid she won't eat enough...would that be ok if I give her chicken only or shall I try to make her eating other food???

She is a cutie, you are doing a fantastic job.
Im not an expert but i would think it is ok to give her chicken only, just dont give her the skin.

Re: Dilly - pup from Dunboyne
Chicken on it's own is fine for a couple of days, (No skin or bones though ) then just introduce a little bit of rice and/or mashed potatoe, pasta. Little and often is the rule and hopefully her tummy will settle down. You could put some glucose in her water as well. Don't give her any milk as that will irritate her tummy and cause more problems.

Updates on Dilly
Dilly is doing really well, her appetite his back and she's been eating no problem this week! So she's filling up and hopefully next week she'll be ready for her first vaccination.
I still don't have a clue about what cross she is...I can't see any greyhound/lurcher anymore
Anyway she is just a dote, loves playing with Belle - actually the two of them are now having long talks every day for hours!!! They're so funny cos they really look like if they are talking to each other..I should get a video of them next time
"Look mommy my big paws!!!"
Pretty girl

Re: Dilly - pup from Dunboyne
Dilly had a bad start of the week with kennel cough but had the all clear from the vet this morning and her first vaccination too Her weight is piling up nicely - I can still see her ribs but her belly is huge and she loves her food.
Her breed x is still a mistery, this morning talking to vet we were even thinking about a bit of akita in her
A well deserved rest after stealing my shoes...
