Brutus - the poorly Boxer
Brutus was surrendered into Ashton Pound in January 2008 and was very ill. The vets diagnosed heart failure and the pound wanted to have Ben put to sleep. However Boxer Rescue, Scotland stepped in and offered Brutus a rescue space, and after much persuasion from Christine, Brutus was eventually allowed to leave the pound and went into foster with Christine in North Tipperary where he came on in leaps and bounds and found his inner puppy again. He is travelling over to Boxer Rescue, Scotland tomorrow for what will hopefully be a long and happy life. Without the work of much needed volunteers, Brutus would have died in the cold pound, but instead thanks to Christine, he experienced a warm home, good food and lots of love and tlc. Good luck in your new life Brutus!
Good luck Brutus
Good luck Brutus and thanks to everyone who believed in giving this beautiful boy a chance of a life!

Brutus
Just to let everyone know that Brutus (or real name Podge.....!!) Has arrived safe and well in Scotland. He is on his way to his foster home as we speak, where he will stay for as long as he needs to, under the watchful eye of Lorraine and all the fabulous people of Boxer welfare Scotland who also believed he should be given a chance to enjoy the life he has left. Brutus will be going to see a Cardiologist to get his condition accessed properly with professional people who know what they are talking about. I will let you all know the outcome of this as soon as I know.
So far Brutus has passed through 2 peoples hands on this journey (not counting me) to the rest of his life and both of them fell head over heels for him, all I can say now is Good Luck Baby, I wish you well for the future, you touched my heart the first time I saw your picture in the pound and you took a big chunk of it away with you today. I hope you continue to gain the strength from the people who care for you. I know Ben has given you the will to carry on and for the sake of his memory I know you will, because Brutus, You are Ben's best friend.

I'm not usually a soppy person...
But your post has brought a tear to my eye Christine. I am so happy that this gorgeous guy has been given a second chance at life. I was besotted with him the day I met him so I can well imagine that the others he came across were too. It's a bittersweet day today. It's great that he's gone off to his new foster home in Scotland and that his health has improved enough to allow him to travel. But it's also sad that he had to go, and of course all the crap that ensued as a result of his rescue. But I have absolutely no doubt that Brutus/Podge will continue to fight the good fight and be our inspiration to carry on in the face of adversity.
Good luck in your new home big man!!! I look forward to hearing regular updates.
Karen.

Re: Brutus - the poorly Boxer
God I remember this day last year like it was yesterday.
Hard to believe it's one year on and he's still there living a very happy life.
Makes it all worthwhile.

Re: Brutus - the poorly Boxer
I got the email to say there was a reply on this thread and feared the worst when I was coming on to read it. Can't believe it's been 2 years since that day. I have to admit there was a couple of times on that journey down to B'witched that I didn't think he'd make it through the night, never mind that he'd still be living a happy life 2 years on.
Happy 2nd Gotchaout Day Brutus/Kai. You've brought a happy tear to my eye this evening
(and a huge big UP YOURS to those that said allowing him to die was the best thing for him back then).
