Re: Shira - White Akita Girl approx 18 months old *rehomed*
Shira has arrived in Scotland. I got a text from Shirley when she was waiting to check in on the way back and Shira was very nervous and not accepting any cuddles I knew she was going to be like that, as it was exactly how she was when she came here, but it still made me cry.
Still I know she'll settle in in no time and hopefully this will be the last time her world has been turned upside down.

I've just gotten off the phone to Shirley who collected Shira and Anna today. There's been a slight change of plan. Shira decided that she wanted to go and live with Shirley's sister instead of Anna She was incredibly nervous all day and had her tail between her legs. Then when Shirley got to her sister's house, Shira spotted her daughter and just perked up completely, her tail curled up and she went over to say hello.
She's settled in really well into Heather's house and has been playing mother to the 3 week old kittens that are there. They were lying down on a blanket and she went over and pulled the blanket over to her, and Heather pulled it back over to the other side of the room and she did it again. So they pulled it back again, and she went over and just picked up one of the kittens in her mouth really gently and took it back over and curled up beside it.
As I type she is fast asleep on the floor with her head in the kittens bed
It sounds like a fantastic home. She's getting on great with the resident spaniel and will only be left for 3 hours a day.
I've cried a river today and was really regretting letting her go, but that phonecall has just made me realise that I made the right decision letting her go.
I can't wait to see the photos of her with the kittens :D:D

She is one very determined girl alright. From day 1 she was determined to find the right home for herself. According to her previous owners, she escaped from the dog wardens after they called them to collect her (Thank doG!!!!!), then she found her way to Leixlip and settled herself in here. Even when she went to Scotland, she picked her home, and it wasn't the one that was originally planned for her!
You've just got to love her really
